Case Study: Commercial Office Client Waste Audit
"Blue Planet performed a LEED Waste Audit for one of our Washington, DC properties, which revealed several opportunities to increase diversion and recycling, and offer savings in the process. The audit process had a minimal impact on our operations, and in addition uncovered a significant billing issue with the hauler (Waste Management). The hauler had been over charing the property incorrectly for more than two (2) years. Blue Planet was able to confirm the error on our behalf allowing us to receive reimbursement for the over charging. As a result, through the savings and correction to the invoicing, the cost of the Audit was offset by more than 235%."

Our waste stream assessment process is an initial, no cost, evaluation and assessment of our client-partner’s waste stream, and includes a review of current service data, costs, and equipment.
The objective of our assessment process is to evaluate the scope of our Client-Partner’s current program, or lack thereof, and to further assess if a need exists for which Blue Planet can bring value to our Client-Partners.
Waste Stream Analysis
Our waste stream analysis process includes the initial assessment and evaluation of our Client-Partner’s waste stream, however, it is expanded to incorporate an additional review of the waste stream’s composition, volume, disposal method, diversion opportunities, as well as a deep review of equipment uses and capabilities. We also evaluate the potential for cost savings, the level of current commandant control, and the need for consolidation

Our LEED Waste Audit exceeds all USGBC LEED requirements for performing a waste audit. Our LEED Waste Audit report containers all the prerequisite and required information, including actual findings and all raw measurement data, the methodologies used, weights, processes, and actionable intelligence need to meet LEED Credit Requirements.

ZERO Waste Stream Audit & Reporting
Blue Planet works with Client-Partners seeking their TRUE ZERO Certification, including the ZERO WASTE Reporting requirements, including compiling 12 months of data for each commodity and waste stream with as least a 90% or better diversion rata. Data must be broken down by month.
Blue Planet assists with TRUE Zero Waste Reporting Credits, 1 - 4, as well as Diversion Credits (1.1 -1.4, & 1.5) and can assist with ZERO Waste Purchasing Credits.
